Medical studies and work in Prague

Karel Pacák graduated from the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, where he received the degree of MUDr. Already during his studies, he began to study stress physiology and hormonal regulation. Subsequently, he completed postgraduate studies (CSc.) and attestation in internal medicine.

He went to the US in the early 1990s and worked for nearly 30 years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), specifically the institute NICHD. Here he led a research program focused on pheochromocytomas and paragangliomas, building one of the most respected workplaces in this field.
